Dental Exams & Cleanings
The first step to overall oral maintenance is dental cleanings and exams.
During your initial visit, high-quality digital X-rays will be taken as an essential part of evaluating your smile and planning treatment. If necessary, we will take X-rays again during check-ups to investigate signs of decay or damage. This is the ideal time to ask questions and to discuss your smile goals.
Fillings
Fillings are dental restorations used to treat low to moderate tooth decay or damage. It is especially targeted at restoring the enamel of your teeth. At Oceanview Dental, our fillings are made of composite material due to its superior tooth-colored aesthetic.
Placing a composite filling typically requires only one visit to our dental office. While your tooth is numb, we will remove all decay and damage. The hollow spaces left will then be cleaned and prepared to receive the filling.
Tooth Extractions
Tooth extractions, or removals, are generally done when teeth are damaged from decay or trauma and are unable to be saved or restored. At Oceanview Dental, tooth extractions are often performed to prevent decay and infection from spreading to your healthy teeth.
Another common type of tooth extraction is the removal of your third molars, or wisdom teeth. Because wisdom teeth are the last to erupt from the gumline, there is often not enough room in the mouth for them to grow properly. Teeth become overcrowded or the wisdom teeth themselves become impacted or stuck.
Bridges
Fixed bridges are a permanent replacement for missing teeth. At Oceanview Dental, we use porcelain fixed bridges as part of our commitment to help you achieve a beautiful smile.
There are many types of dental bridges available, and our skilled dentists will determine which one will work best for your smile.
Typically, a porcelain fixed bridge consists of two dental crowns and a replacement tooth called a pontic. The crowns will be placed on the teeth adjacent to the missing tooth to anchor the pontic. When a perfect fit and bite is ensured, the bridge will be cemented into place.
Crowns
A type of dental restoration, dental crowns are “caps” that completely encase damaged teeth up to the gumline.
Dental crowns are used to restore the shape, size, and function of a severely damaged tooth, especially when little original tooth structure remains.

Periodontal Treatment
Periodontics is the branch of dentistry that focuses on studying and treating the gums and soft tissues of your mouth.
Periodontal disease, or gum disease, is when your gums and soft tissues become infected and decayed. It begins as a condition called gingivitis and progressively worsens until teeth are eventually lost due to lack of support.
Fluoride, a type of mineral, is considered one of the most effective tools in preventing tooth decay. It also helps promote healthy tooth growth and function.
Fluoride has two main functions. First, it strengthens teeth that have already erupted from the gumline. Second, teeth that have yet to grow are also strengthened. Fluoride treatment is especially important for children.
Fluoride is available in both in-office and at-home treatments.

Dentures
A removable tooth replacement option, dentures are used to replace multiple missing teeth.
There are two types of dentures offered at Oceanview Dental: full and partial dentures. Full dentures replace all the teeth in the upper or lower arch, or both arches. Partial dentures replace multiple missing teeth in a row when some natural teeth remain.
We will work with you to determine which type of denture is best for your smile.
Root canal therapy, also known as a root canal, is a form of endodontic treatment.
Endodontics is the branch of dentistry that focuses on studying and treating the dental pulp and tooth nerves. When tooth decay or damage reaches the inside of a tooth, infection often occurs. If left untreated, the tooth may die and need to be removed.
Root canal therapy is done to save your tooth in order to preserve your healthy, beautiful smile.

Sealants
The chewing surfaces of your back teeth, generally referred to as your molars and premolars, have deep grooves called pits and fissures. Because these areas are hard to clean by brushing and flossing, the molars and premolars are especially prone to decay.
Sealants are thin, plastic coatings painted onto the pits and fissures to prevent decay and make the surface of your teeth easier to clean.
