dental implants

Dental implants are a permanent, surgical solution for replacing missing teeth. Created to last for a lifetime, dental implants look and feel like natural teeth.

Dental implants use a titanium post, surgically implanted into your jawbone. Once your jawbone has healed and fused around the implant, an attachment called an abutment is placed. The abutment acts as a base for your dental restoration, whether it is a crown, denture, or bridge.

All-on-4® is a specialized surgical procedure where with only 4 implants, an entire arch of teeth can be replaced. This means in one day, you can have a brand new, radiant, healthy smile.

Anyone who is missing one or more teeth due to injury, disease, tooth decay, genetics, or any other reason may be a candidate for dental implants.

Having enough healthy bone to support implants is a key factor.

The All-on-4® Dental Implant Treatment Solution is a revolutionary procedure in which we maximize available bone with as few as four strategically placed implants.

Even with preexisting conditions such as diabetes or long term smoking, which can affect bone density, you’re not precluded from being a candidate.

If you’ve been told in the past that you weren’t a candidate for dental implants, come in to Oceanview Dental and see what we can do for you.

For an All-on-4® procedure, expect to be at the office all day. The surgery itself takes only a few hours, but you’ll spend some time sleeping off the anesthesia.

Osseointegration is the fusing of your titanium implant and your jaw bone. A solid fusion is the foundation for your new teeth.

It takes approximately 4 to 6 months for osseointegration to take place.

During the procedure you are asleep and won’t feel anything.

You will have received prescriptions for pain medication before your surgery. Taking them as prescribed and before you start to feel any pain is a good way to keep yourself comfortable while you’re healing.

Bruising and swelling are common, but the severity of each varies from person to person. Afterward many of our patients have reported that they were much more comfortable than they expected to be.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Porcelain inlays and onlays are a type of cosmetic dental restoration. Often referred to as partial crowns or indirect fillings, porcelain inlays and onlays are used to treat moderate levels of decay or damage while maintaining a pleasing appearance. Porcelain inlays are fitted into a cavity, or space, in a tooth, while a porcelain onlay extends to replace a cusp, or the elevated bump of a tooth.

Fluoride, a type of mineral, is considered one of the most effective tools in preventing tooth decay. It also helps promote healthy tooth growth and function.

When combined with good oral hygiene and eating habits, including brushing and flossing daily, fluoride becomes a powerful tool against decay.

Sealants are thin, plastic coatings painted onto the pits and fissures of the surfaces of your molars to prevent decay and make the surface of your teeth easier to clean.
